The
Bongos
Two drums that are held between the knees normally one drum is bigger
than the other for two different pitches. The larger drum is the
hembra and the smaller is the macho. Bongos can be constructed of
many different materials though originally they were made from wood
now they can be metal, plastics and composite. The cover is normally
an animal hyde with tension adjustment encircling the drum. The
bongos originate from Africa. The drums were taken to Cuba by the
African salves and were used by the Spanish.
