Drums Technique

The drums in a band

The drummer is one of the most important musicians in the band even though it is traditional that they get a lot of stick from the rest of the band members as they are not really being regarded as a real musician. Their role is the driving force of the band, the time controllers and time keeper. Ideally the drummer and bass player need to form a solid rhythm section of the band. To become proficient takes years of dedicated practice.

As complex patterns and fills need to be executed with feel, accuracy and confidence. The drummer needs to possibly tune their drum kit to get the best drum sound. The position where the drum is struck can make a big difference to the sound. The drums will probably take more time than any other instrument in the group, because the drums is so important get right and the final sound is so critical.
