The Sitar

This is an ancient Indian string instrument used by mainly Hindus. It gives a trebley, ringing, sustaining sound which is a haunting tone. It has a sound box and neck constructed from wood. The frets run under the fret board having nineteen strings but twelve run underneath the frets while the other seven run over the frets. The sounds come from the gourd sound box. This instrument is difficult to tune.
