Equalization
- Also known as a graphic equalizer. Where by you will have
your different frequencies split into controllable units
Adjusting the volumes of the frequencies compared to each
other is known as equalizing. These frequencies are split
into main areas which are bass, middle and treble or top.
A graphic can also boost the overall volume.
Reverb
- This effect is similar to hearing inside a large hall where
you get that bounce of sound, a fat sound with splash added
to widen it. Very useful to fill out a sound often used for
vocals.
Echo
- If you where to shout in a mountain range you would get
an effect where by you would hear the sound just afterwards
and repeated this is echo. Speed and rate of change can be
altered.
Chorus
- This fattens the sound and gives a varying swirling effect
again attack, rate of change and intensity may be changed.
Flanger
- This is similar to chorus but has an older sounding feel
to it usually with a tinny effect.
Slow
Gear -
This gives long delay and a haunting sound, can sound flute
like.
Compression
- This sounds as if the note is squeezed to sound fatter slightly
adding to the sound. the opposite to a thin sound.
Overdrive - This is a amplifier
pre-amp sound from the time when analogue amps where driven
and the sound breaks from a clear sound to an over driven
sound giving the effect of a powerful sound.
Slap
back
- This is like a quick one repeat echo very affective for
drum kit sound and tones.
Wah
Wah
- This came in around the time of rock music in the 1960's
where the bass and treble are changed via a foot pedal typical
for the Jimi Hendrix sound.
