/ condition = This Chinese made student cello is in
near perfect cosmetic condition and is structurally
much improved having benefited from a professional
set-up and a good set of strings (Corelli - C£90)
which were only fitted 6 weeks ago. The cello has
had its bridge and
topnut reshaped to ensure good string action. The
tuning pegs, which were extremely poorly fitted, have
been properly tapered to fit and work easily. The
tailgut has been replaced with one that is much stronger
and will last considerably longer. All of these improvements
make this particular make of cello significantly
better than it would be brand new. Gear4Music cellos
are sold with the bridge flat, extremely poor quality
strings and many teething problems that need attending
to in order to make the instruments playable. This
instrument is now in excellent playing condition and
has a rich warm tone. Comes with soft padded bag and
bow.

bass by Benedikt Lang in 1990. Maple back and spruce
top. No repairs have been made to this bass and it
has served me well for 15 years through university
to music college. Great treble sound in current set
up. Fitted recently with Pirastro Obligato strings
which complement the instrument well. Another quirky
feature is the slightly warped F-holes which curve
out slightly. Some small scratches as to be expected
for an instrument that's had this much use - but she's
comfortable to play with nice sloped shoulders and
a rugged endpin. Bow quiver included. Questions welcome.

Shop' Blackpool for £3500 (still have original
receipt). It was re-valued four years ago at the 'Beverly
Music Centre' for £8000. As you can see from
the photos the cello is in excellent condition and
has helped me to Grade 8 and a major performance degree.
Also included in the sale is a fibreglass hard case
and a bow.
Technical specification is as follows:- Cello has
a two peice back of well flamed maple of narrow curl,
with ribs and head well matched. The table of pine
has a grain of medium width and the varnish colour
is golden brown. The state of the preservation is

James Rawes, of Carlisle, Cumbria) well looked after

reliable, with no \'temper tantrums\' or detuning.
Clear, consistent sound across all strings, rich but
well projected, ideal for a student at college level,
semi-professional or enthusiastic amateur. Also very
responsive in high positions on lower strings, and
a sweet top register with a great deal of sympathetic
ringing. A well made instrument that rewards the player.
Two piece back of deep medium curl. Varnish of light
