Description / condition = reat, sturdy German double
bass by Benedikt Lang in 1990. Maple back and spruce
top. No repairs have been made to this bass and it
has served me well for 15 years through university
to music college. Great treble sound in current set
up. Fitted recently with Pirastro Obligato strings
which complement the instrument well. Another quirky
feature is the slightly warped F-holes which curve
out slightly. Some small scratches as to be expected
for an instrument that's had this much use - but she's
comfortable to play with nice sloped shoulders and
a rugged endpin. Bow quiver included. Questions welcome.

The
Double bass
Originally
the double bass was a bass viola as used in an orchestra. But now
as a large instrument that you have to stand up to play. The bass
is popular in jazz bands. It can be plucked or bowed but is now
generally justed plucked with the side of the fingers. The bass
gives a warm, round, full sound that can sound great when well played
for example slides to the notes as there are no frets.
